1. Who We Are

The Emergents Movement ("TEM", "we", "us") is a Christian ministry based in Nigeria. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information you provide when you use our website at theemergentsmovement.org.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Prayer requests: Name, email address, phone number (optional), and the text of your prayer request, submitted via our Prayer page.
  • Testimonies: Name, email address (optional), and testimony text submitted via the Testimonies page.
  • Contact form: Name, email address, subject, and message when you contact us.
  • Newsletter subscription: Email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • RSVP: Name and email address when you RSVP for an event.
  • Gamification / engagement: We store an anonymous identifier in your browser (localStorage) to track your reading streak, check-ins, and badges. No personal information is required. You may optionally link your email address to sync this data across devices.
  • Push notifications: If you subscribe to push notifications, we store your browser push subscription endpoint. No personal details are collected.
  • Usage data: Standard web server logs including your IP address and browser type, used for security and troubleshooting only.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to prayer requests and contact form messages.
  • To review and publish testimonies (names are abbreviated to initials only).
  • To send our newsletter to subscribers who have opted in.
  • To confirm RSVPs for events.
  • To send push notifications to subscribers who have opted in.
  • To maintain website security and prevent abuse.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

4. Email Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will receive ministry updates, event announcements, and teachings from TEM. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email.

5. Data Retention

  • Prayer request data is retained for ministry follow-up and then deleted within 12 months.
  • Testimony data is retained indefinitely after publication (abbreviated to initials).
  • Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Anonymous gamification data (streak, badges) is stored in your browser and on our servers. You may clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Web3Forms — for processing prayer requests and contact form submissions. Your submitted data is processed by Web3Forms and forwarded to our ministry email.
  • Paystack — for processing offerings and donations. Paystack is PCI-compliant; we do not store your card details.
  • Firebase (Google) — for our database, file storage, and push notification infrastructure.
  • Resend — for transactional email delivery (newsletter, notifications).

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses browser local storage (not cookies) to store your anonymous gamification identifier and saved blog posts. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent to email communications at any time (by unsubscribing).
  • Withdraw consent to push notifications at any time (via your browser settings).

9. Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of our website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
